Description:

A plate maker (or platemaker) prepares and processes printing plates that carry the image or text to be printed. The main tasks usually include:

• Transferring digital or film-based images onto printing plates using photo-mechanical or computer-to-plate (CTP) processes.
• Inspecting and correcting plates to ensure alignment and image quality.
• Working with materials such as aluminum or polyester plates.
• Handling chemicals and operating plate-processing equipment.
