SUMMARY

Senior Network Engineers will oversee the workflow of service tickets and delegate most tasks to Network Engineers. They only take on service tickets too complex to be handled by Network Engineers. Senior network engineers oversee the workflow involved in maintaining a company’s enterprise network. They are responsible for designing and implementing the company’s network infrastructure, resolving advanced support issues, and managing the Network Engineering staff.

Additionally, it involves planning and developing solutions for crucial infrastructure initiatives to create and maintain a vision for the corporate network infrastructure, as well as customer infrastructure. Furthermore, this role provides high-level technical guidance and support for the enterprise network structure and mentorship/guidance for a team of Engineers that troubleshoots and optimizes our networks.

Experience Target - Five to eight years related experience.

Good written and verbal communication skills to build rapport with team members and efficiently delegate tasks. He/She should be able to provide a clear and concise solution to the stakeholders and the clients.

Knowledge/Abilities: 

• Knowledge includes support and troubleshooting routing protocols (BGP, EIGRP, OSPF) and redistribution of these protocols.  Ability to install, administer and troubleshoot layer 2 and 3 switching (Cisco Catalyst, Nexus) and Routing MPLS wide area technologies.  Complex understanding of VOIP and troubleshooting experience over MPLS and SD - WAN. Firewalls (Cisco ASA)

• Design Functional Networks - Senior Network Engineers collaborate with Global Network Architects to design and build functional networks from the ground up based on their employer's specific needs.

• Create and Implement Network Security Measures – Collaborate with the Global IT Network Security team to create and enforce security protocols. This includes configuring and monitoring things like user access levels, data access history, and other related security concerns.

• Provide network status reports to the Network Manager - Senior Network Engineer is in constant contact with the Network Manager and must create and present regular network reports in weekly meetings. He/She must be able to able to foresee any challenges.

• Expertise in network operating systems and technologies - Cisco IOS is the most widely used network operating system. Senior Network Engineers must constantly update their Cisco knowledge as the platform evolves. Ability to configure and familiar with proxies, particularly MWG and WSA.

• Understanding of communication and routing protocols - knowledge of TCP/IP is used to solve network connectivity issues and construct functional networks. Needs to be able to articulate with the customer network infrastructure and provide recommendations. Ability to install, administer and troubleshoot layer 3 switching, MPLS and SD-WAN technologies.

Special Certifications :

CCIE or CCNP with equivalent experience, with proven specialization in either voice or security or equivalent experience. CCDA or CCDP.
