Shift Manager plays a role in creating enjoyable dining experiences. Oversee reception areas, dining rooms and the kitchen to ensure that patrons receive great food and excellent customer service. A Shift Manager in training works under an experienced manager to learn all about operations. It's your job to learn and practice effective leadership techniques, so the restaurant flourishes once you're put in charge.
Responsibilities
Management
Assists to oversee and provide customer service leadership, training, and coaching, alongside the Restaurant Manager and Assistant Manager, for all foodservice employees.
Maintaining a clean, safe environment by complying with all health and sanitation procedures to ensure the foodservice area is presentable and that all products are in-stock
Manage the opening/mid shift procedures of the store and ensure that the entire store is fully prepared, and the store team is ready for the shift.
Manage the closing shift procedures of the store including the timely and effective conduct of a closing line/store check that facilitates an easy and effective set up of the store for the following day’s operations.
Sales Building
Effectively implement local restaurant marketing programs to drive trials and create repeat business.
Maintaining high retention by focusing on identifying qualified applicants, developing leaders, empowering employees, and encouraging employee productivity
Increase the store’s average check by guiding dining staff in executing salesmanship techniques.
Profitability
Assist in implementing all merchandising and marketing programs in order to ensure the foodservice area maximizes sales and profits while maintaining asset controls
Monitor and manage the ordering products, inventory levels and verifying deliveries at the BOH. Ensure the adequacy of portion controls and guides to minimize high wastages.
Monitor and manage the use of FOH operating supplies.
Monitor and manager the use of utilities.
People Management
Opening MOD, conduct a short but effective daily huddle to review the previous day/s results, emphasize the targets for the day and give clear directions on priorities for the shift.
As part of the management team, facilitate regular meetings for the whole team for review of operations and business results, to lay out action plans, to recognize performers, and provide updates relevant developments and critical matters needing emphasis.
Monitor compliance of store to all regulatory requirements.
Seek ways to improve and maximize efficiency of store facilities and equipment in close coordination with the Management Team.
Requirements
Experience in management or similar/relevant field (e.g. Sales, Customer Services, etc.)
Comprehensive knowledge of MS Office
Strong verbal and written presentation skills
