About the Role

We are seeking a highly capable and strategic Head of Finance to lead financial operations for our venture studio and its portfolio of early-stage ventures. This role goes beyond traditional financial management, it includes playing a key role in portfolio performance tracking, fundraising strategy, and investment planning. You will work closely with the Managing Director and venture teams to ensure financial discipline, capital efficiency, and readiness for scale.

Key Responsibilities

1. Financial Strategy & Operations

• Own the financial planning, budgeting, and forecasting processes for both the venture studio and portfolio ventures.
• Establish and manage core financial systems, controls, and processes.
• Oversee accounting, cash flow management, payables/receivables, and reporting.

2. Portfolio Management

• Monitor financial performance across all ventures; provide insights on burn rate, runway, and capital efficiency.
• Help define and track key financial KPIs for each venture.
• Work with venture leads to improve financial discipline and fundraising readiness.
• Develop standardized dashboards and reporting tools to evaluate and compare venture performance.

3. Investment Planning & Fundraising Support

• Assist in crafting capital raising strategies at both the studio and venture levels (equity, debt, grants).
• Maintain and update cap tables for studio and ventures; manage equity allocation processes (e.g., ESOP, investor rounds).
• Support investment structuring, term sheet reviews, and due diligence processes.
• Liaise with external investors, advisors, and legal counsel during fundraising efforts.
• Model scenarios for follow-on investment, dilution planning, and exit scenarios.

4. Governance & Compliance

• Ensure compliance with relevant financial regulations, tax laws, and audit requirements across jurisdictions.
• Support the Managing Director in preparing for board meetings and investor updates.
• Help structure and document investment vehicles, corporate entities, and capital flows.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or a related field
• CFA or other professional certification is highly desirable but optional
• Proven experience in financial leadership roles, preferably in startups, venture studios, or investment firms
• Strong background in FP&A, venture finance, and cap table management
• Deep understanding of early-stage investment mechanics (SAFE, convertible notes, equity rounds)
• Strategic thinker with high attention to detail and ability to handle complexity across multiple entities
• Excellent communication skills, especially when working with founders, investors, and senior stakeholders
• Excel at financial analysis, modeling, and strategic planning
• Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple priorities
• Highly proactive and self-driven, with a bias toward action and ownership; able to anticipate needs, identify issues early, and drive initiatives independently
