Description

Requirements

Education:

  • Bachelor's Degree (Preferred): A degree in business, accounting, finance, or a related field may be preferred

Experience:

  • Debt Collection or Customer Service Experience: Previous experience in debt collection, customer service, or any related field is typically required. Employers often look for individuals with a background in handling financial transactions or managing client accounts.
  • Negotiation Experience: Experience in negotiating payments or resolving disputes can be a plus.

Skills:

  • Strong Communication Skills: Ability to communicate effectively in both English and Filipino is important, as you'll interact with a diverse group of clients and debtors.
  • Negotiation Skills: The ability to discuss payment plans and settlements with debtors in a professional and diplomatic manner.
  • Problem-Solving Skills: Ability to find solutions to payment issues and handle challenging conversations.
  • Attention to Detail: Accurate record-keeping and monitoring of payment schedules.
  • Computer Skills: Proficiency in using MS Office (Excel, Word) and collection management software. Familiarity with accounting or billing software may be an advantage.
  • Time Management: The ability to prioritize tasks and follow up on overdue accounts promptly.
  • Training in Debt Collection Practices: Some companies provide internal or external training to familiarize employees with collection protocols, local laws, and negotiation strategies.
  • Legal Knowledge: optional and willing to learn
  • Understanding of Local Collection Laws: Familiarity with the Republic Act No. 9484 (The Debt Collection Law) and Republic Act No. 10173 (The Data Privacy Act) is essential, as these laws govern debt collection practices in the Philippines.
  • Knowledge of the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act (FDCPA): Though the FDCPA is U.S. legislation, understanding international best practices can still be useful for professionalism and ethical standards in collections.
