Role: Cloud Governance Lead

Contract

Job Summary:

A highly experienced and strategic Cloud Infrastructure Governance and Cloud Migration Lead to drive our cloud adoption journey and establish robust governance frameworks for our cloud environment. This role will be responsible for leading cloud migration projects, defining and enforcing cloud governance policies, ensuring security and compliance in the cloud, and optimizing cloud costs. The ideal candidate will possess deep technical expertise in cloud platforms, strong project management skills, and a thorough understanding of cloud governance best practices.

Responsibilities:

Cloud Migration Strategy and Execution:

• Develop and execute the organization's cloud migration strategy, including workload assessment, migration planning, and execution.
• Lead and manage cloud migration projects, ensuring on-time, within-budget, and successful transitions.
• Define migration methodologies and tools, and oversee their implementation.
• Collaborate with application teams to understand their migration requirements and provide guidance.
• Identify and mitigate risks associated with cloud migration.
• Ensure proper documentation of the migration process and target cloud environment.

Cloud Governance Framework Development and Implementation:

• Define and implement comprehensive cloud governance policies, standards, and procedures across areas such as security, compliance, cost management, identity and access management, and resource management.
• Establish mechanisms for monitoring and enforcing cloud governance policies.
• Develop and maintain cloud infrastructure blueprints and reference architectures.
• Implement automated governance controls and compliance checks.
• Conduct regular audits of the cloud environment to ensure adherence to governance policies.
• Stay up-to-date with evolving cloud governance best practices and regulatory requirements.

Cloud Cost Optimization and Management:

• Develop and implement strategies for optimizing cloud costs.
• Monitor cloud spending and identify opportunities for cost reduction.
• Implement cost control mechanisms, such as resource tagging, rightsizing, and reserved instances.
• Provide regular reports on cloud spending and cost optimization efforts.

Security and Compliance in the Cloud:

• Collaborate with the security team to define and implement cloud security policies and controls.
• Ensure compliance with relevant industry regulations and standards in the cloud environment.
• Implement and manage cloud security tools and services.
• Participate in security audits and risk assessments of the cloud infrastructure.

Leadership and Collaboration:

• Provide leadership and guidance to teams involved in cloud migration and governance activities.
• Foster a culture of cloud awareness and best practices within the organization.
• Collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams, including application development, security, and IT operations.
• Manage relationships with cloud service providers.
• Communicate effectively with stakeholders at all levels regarding cloud migration progress and governance initiatives.

Qualifications:

• Experience in IT infrastructure, with a significant focus on cloud computing (AWS, Azure, GCP, or a combination).
• Proven experience in leading and managing cloud migration projects of varying complexity.
• Deep understanding of cloud infrastructure services, including compute, storage, networking, databases, and serverless technologies.
• Strong knowledge of cloud governance frameworks, best practices, and tools.
• Experience in developing and implementing cloud security policies and controls.
• Familiarity with relevant compliance standards (e.g., GDPR, HIPAA, SOC 2).
• Experience with cloud cost management and optimization strategies.
• Excellent project management skills, including planning, execution, and risk management.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
• Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Relevant cloud certifications (e.g., AWS Certified Solutions Architect, Azure Solutions Architect Expert, Google Cloud Architect).
• Project Management Professional (PMP) certification.
• Experience with infrastructure-as-code (IaC) tools (e.g., Terraform, CloudFormation, ARM templates).
• Knowledge of automation and scripting languages (e.g., Python, PowerShell).
• Experience with cloud monitoring and logging tools.
• Familiarity with DevOps principles and practices.
