A quantity surveyor in glass and aluminum supply manages project costs by preparing bills of quantities (BOQs), analyzing project drawings and specifications, sourcing and evaluating supplier/subcontractor quotes for materials like aluminum, glass, and accessories, and tracking expenditures against budgets. Key responsibilities include preparing cost estimates, negotiating contracts, processing interim valuations and progress claims, managing variations, preparing final accounts, and ensuring compliance with contractual and financial standards to provide value for the client. 


  • Cost Estimation & Budgeting: Prepare detailed cost estimates, budgets, and Bills of Quantities (BOQs) for projects involving aluminum, glass, and façade systems. 
  • Contract Review & Negotiation: Review commercial terms in contracts and agreements, and negotiate with suppliers and subcontractors for materials and labor
  • Project Monitoring: Track project expenditures, monitor budgets, and measure on-site or drawing-based work to process interim valuations and progress claims. 


Requirements

  • Education: A degree or diploma Civil Engineering, or a related field. 
  • Technical Knowledge: In-depth knowledge of aluminum and glass façade systems (e.g., curtain walls, cladding, glazing systems). 
  • Software Proficiency: Proficient in AutoCAD and MS Office Package
