Description
The MEPFS Design Head is responsible for the over-all management of EMDD. This encompasses Strategic Planning to Execution of MEPFS Design initiatives which covers Mechanical, Electrical, Plumbing, Fire Protection, Sanitary systems (including STP), Vertical Transport and Land Development, for all projects including related and auxiliary projects covered by the MEPFS scope.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
You will:
- Lead the Engineering Management and Design Department (EMDD) in strategic planning, aligning departmental vision and KRAs with long-term corporate goals.
- Ensure MEPFS design strategies reflect the overall value proposition of the A&E Division: integrated, cost-efficient, compliant, buildable, timely, and sustainable.
- Manage and lead the MEPFS design team across multiple vertical and horizontal building projects of varying scale and typology.
- Define and optimize resource requirements, including establishing a suitable organizational structure and ideal project-to-staff ratios.
- Oversee the financial performance of the EMDD, maintaining optimal Revenues per Employee (RPE).
- Develop and streamline processes, tools, and methodologies to enhance operational efficiency and design output.
- Stay current with emerging technologies and building systems in MEPFS; facilitate continuous learning and training programs for the team.
- Ensure all MEPFS designs comply with client requirements, statutory regulations, sustainability benchmarks, and local/international codes (e.g., Electrical, Mechanical, Plumbing Codes).
- Optimize MEPFS design through value engineering, digitalization tools, performance-based methods, and design simulations.
- Ensure seamless integration and coordination of all MEPFS trades with architectural, structural, and other disciplines.
- Guarantee high-quality output that meets or exceeds set expectations.
- Monitor and control project timelines to ensure all MEPFS deliverables are completed on schedule.
- Serve as the final reviewer and approver of all MEPFS designs, drawings, and technical specifications.
- Act as Subject Matter Expert for MEPFS-related concerns at the corporate level.
- Provide expert support to other functions, including Construction QA/QC, materials evaluation, and other technical reviews.
QUALIFICATIONS & REQUIREMENTS:
- Must have a Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or Electronics Engineering (Master’s Degree preferred).
- Must be a Licensed Professional Mechanical Engineer
- Minimum of 10 years of relevant experience in MEPFS design and coordination, with at least 8 years in a leadership or management role.
- Proficient in digital tools and platforms used in MEPFS design and modeling.
- Strong knowledge of local and international codes and standards (e.g., Green Building Standards, Electrical/Mechanical/Plumbing codes).
- Excellent leadership, team management, and communication skills.
- Strong project management abilities with experience handling multiple concurrent projects.
- Experience working in both design consultancy and construction environments.
- Skilled in stakeholder engagement and technical presentations.
