Description

The Licensing Specialist is responsible for managing, optimizing, and ensuring compliance of all software, cloud, and subscription licenses for clients in a Managed Service Provider (MSP) environment. This role requires deep expertise in Microsoft licensing (especially New Commerce Experience – NCE), as well as a solid understanding of other vendor licensing models. The Licensing Specialist works closely with account managers, technical teams, and clients to provide accurate licensing recommendations and maintain compliance while optimizing costs.


Key Responsibilities:


1. License Management & Compliance

· Manage, monitor, and maintain client software licenses across multiple platforms (Microsoft, Adobe, VMware, etc.).

· Ensure compliance with licensing agreements, avoiding penalties and overages.

· Track license usage and advise on license renewals, expirations, and adjustments.

2. Subscription and Cloud Licensing (NCE Expertise)

· Administer and manage Microsoft 365, Azure, and other cloud-based subscription licenses through the Microsoft Partner Center or similar CSP platforms.

· Handle NCE (New Commerce Experience) licensing processes, including renewals, adjustments, and term commitments (monthly, annual, and multi-year).

· Proactively advise clients on cost optimization strategies and possible subscription changes.

3. Client Consultation & Recommendations

· Assess client licensing needs and recommend appropriate licensing models based on business size, usage, and compliance requirements.

· Provide detailed reports and licensing audits to clients.

· Educate and guide clients on changes to vendor licensing policies and how they impact their business.

4. Renewals and Upgrades

· Track and manage subscription renewal timelines to ensure uninterrupted service.

· Identify opportunities for clients to upgrade or consolidate licenses for better value and performance.

5. Vendor Relationship Management

· Liaise with software vendors, distributors, and cloud solution providers to obtain the best pricing and licensing terms.

· Stay informed on vendor licensing changes, promotions, and program updates.


Required Skills & Qualifications:


Technical Knowledge:

· Deep knowledge of Microsoft licensing models, including Microsoft 365, Azure, Dynamics 365, and other NCE plans.

· Familiarity with licensing models for other major vendors (e.g., VMware, Adobe, Cisco).

· Strong understanding of SaaS, IaaS, and PaaS subscription models.

Analytical & Compliance Skills:

· Ability to analyze licensing usage data to identify potential overspending or compliance risks.

· Strong attention to detail in tracking renewals, compliance deadlines, and subscription changes.

Communication & Client Relationship Skills:

Excellent verbal and written communication skills to explain complex licensing terms to non-technical clients.

Strong customer service mindset with the ability to build and maintain trust with clients.


Education & Certifications:


Bachelor’s Degree in Business, IT, or a related field (preferred but not required).

Certifications Preferred:

· Microsoft 365 Certified: Fundamentals or relevant certifications.

· Microsoft Certified: Azure Administrator or similar.

· Vendor-specific certifications (e.g., Fortinet, SonicWall, Cisco, VMware).


Experience:


2-5 years of experience in licensing management or software asset management, preferably in an MSP environment.

Prior experience working with Microsoft Partner Center or a similar CSP platform.


Preferred Qualifications:


· Experience with automation tools for license tracking and reporting.

· Familiarity with ITSM platforms (e.g., ConnectWise, Autotask).

· Strong understanding of regulatory compliance frameworks (e.g., GDPR, HIPAA, etc.).


Work Schedule:


Full-time, with flexibility to accommodate urgent licensing requests and renewals.


SUMMARY:

  • Position Shift: Monday to Friday, 8:00PM - 5:00AM PHT (8:00AM to 5:00PM EST)
  • Location: Clark Freeport Zone, Pampanga, Philippines
  • Position Type: Full Time Employee
  • Salary: To be determined based on qualification associated with job role
  • Work set-up: Temporary WFH for Cebu-based new hires (subject to change to Hybrid)
