About the Independence Senior Team Member Role (Manager)


In this role, you will be responsible for supporting the Partner Responsible for Independence in the implementation of and compliance by the Firm with the Independence Network Standard, including policies, processes and systems requirements, that should help safeguard our independence of Assurance clients in compliance with the regulatory requirements and protect the interests of clients, PwC and the public interest in our work.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepare an Independence risk assessment to assess policies and procedures in place which respond to Independence risks.
  • Prepare and assist the Partner Responsible for Independence (PRI) in implementing the Independence action plan and annual plan and monitor achievement of the plan on a regular basis.
  • Prepare and assist the PRI in implementing an annual Independence training curriculum and other appropriate communications for partners and staff.
  • Prepare communication materials (i.e., Independence email alerts) and training materials to reinforce compliance with the Independence policies and processes, and to communicate Network and local Independence policies and processes, including regulatory and professional standard requirements, to all relevant partners and staff.
  • Facilitate training sessions on Independence and monitor the status.
  • Assist the PRI in implementing the firm’s Independence process (i.e., Personal Independence Compliance Testing, Independence consultations, Key Performance Indicators, Relationship Checking and Independence Assessment, among others) and resolving Independence matters on a timely basis and completing appropriate documentation.
  • Assist in implementing PwC Global tools, policies and systems and monitoring implementation thereof.
  • Annually undertake monitoring to assess compliance with the Independence policies, Network Risk Management Policies and local policies and guidance, and in coordination with the PRI and Independence Office, resolve and report deficiencies/breaches, where identified.
  • Prepare Independence reports for the PRI in reporting to the Leadership (i.e. Oversight Board, Executive Leadership Team, Assurance Partners, etc.) and regulators (i.e. SEC, PCAOB, etc.), if any.
  • Coordinate with other relevant groups to ensure compliance with the Independence policies.
  • Participate and be Involved in internal and external inspection/reviews, including regulatory reviews.
  • Lead and provide guidance to junior staff members, including monitoring the achievement of their assigned tasks.
  • Attend Global and local training and conferences, as required, cascade topics to relevant partners and staff.
  • Work together with the Independence team and other relevant groups (i.e. Risk Management)
  • The Senior Team Member should also be open and willing to be assigned to other tasks related to the role.
  • Implement and operate independence systems and tools
  • Process and respond to consultation requests and inquiries.


Requirements:

  • Graduate of a business, accounting, or management course
  • Background in risk management - independence
  • Good communication and project management skills
  • Work experience from any Big 4 is an advantage
  • Min 1 year (Assistant Manager/Manager) 3-4 years as a Senior Associate
