Safe Forklift Operation
- Operate various types of forklifts (e.g., reach trucks, counterbalance forklifts, pallet jacks) safely and efficiently in confined spaces and cold environments.
- Conduct pre-shift inspections of the forklift (e.g., battery charge, controls, brakes, tires) and report any mechanical issues immediately.
- Adhere strictly to all safety regulations, company policies, and traffic rules within the warehouse.
- Maintain a clean and organized forklift, including battery charging and maintenance.
- Operate the forklift in a manner that prevents damage to products, racking, equipment, and the facility structure.
- Be aware of pedestrian traffic and other equipment operators in the area at all times.
Loading, Unloading, and Receiving
- Safely load and unload incoming and outgoing shipments from trucks and containers using the forklift.
- Verify product count against shipping documents (e.g., Bill of Lading, delivery receipts) and report any discrepancies or damages to the Warehouse Supervisor immediately.
- Transport received goods to designated staging areas or directly to storage locations within appropriate temperature zones.
Storage and Put-away
- Accurately store products in designated racking locations, ensuring proper stacking techniques and utilization of vertical space.
- Follow specific storage instructions based on product type, temperature requirements, and inventory system directives (e.g., FIFO - First-In, First-Out; LIFO - Last-In, First-Out).
- Ensure proper spacing and accessibility for future retrieval.
Order Picking and Staging
- Pick orders accurately from storage locations according to picking lists or WMS instructions.
- Transport picked goods to the designated staging or loading areas, ensuring they remain in the correct temperature conditions.
- Assemble and wrap pallets for outbound shipments, ensuring stability and safety.
Inventory Management Support
- Assist with cycle counting and physical inventory counts as required.
- Report any inventory discrepancies, damaged products, or misplaced items to the Warehouse Supervisor.
- Ensure products are correctly labeled and identified as per company standards.
Facility Maintenance and Teamwork
- Assist in maintaining the cleanliness and organization of the warehouse, especially in assigned areas.
- Report any facility maintenance issues (e.g., racking damage, spills, unusual conditions in cold rooms).
- Collaborate effectively with other warehouse staff, supervisors, and truck drivers to ensure smooth operations.
- Be prepared to work in extreme cold temperatures for extended periods, wearing appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE).
Documentation and Coordination
- Complete forklift logbooks, movement records, and assist in updating manual or system-based inventory logs.
- Communicate effectively with Checkers, Inventory Control, and Documentation Staff to ensure smooth movement of goods.
Qualifications:
- At least High School Graduate or Senior High School Graduate.
- TESDA Forklift NC II Certification or any equivalent certification is preferred.
- Minimum of 1-3 years of proven experience as a Forklift Operator, preferably in a warehouse or logistics environment.
- Prior experience operating forklifts in a cold storage or freezer environment is highly desirable and a significant advantage.
- Experience with different types of forklifts (e.g., reach truck, counterbalance) is a plus.
- Familiarity with Warehouse Management Systems (WMS) or inventory scanning devices is an advantage.
