The Venture

OpenPower unlocks investment capital for decentralized energy by giving midscale developers access to flexible financing, risk assessment, and payment management. We enable developers to offer zero-downpayment financing to their customers, driving capital into small-scale DER projects while ensuring transparency for investors. By streamlining risk evaluation, capital deployment, and payment collection, OpenPower accelerates decentralized energy adoption in emerging markets.

About the Role

As the founding CEO, you will lead the development and scale-up of a financial platform that unlocks capital for distributed energy resources (DERs) in emerging markets. You will set the company’s strategy, secure key partnerships, oversee financial operations, and drive innovative financing solutions to accelerate clean energy adoption. This role demands strong leadership, financial expertise, and a commitment to making energy more affordable and reliable.

Key Responsibilities:

Strategic Leadership & Vision:

• Develop and execute the company’s strategic vision, ensuring alignment with market needs, investor expectations, and global climate goals.
• Position the company as a market leader in sustainable energy finance through innovative solutions and thought leadership.

Fundraising & Investor Relations:

• Lead capital-raising efforts, securing funding from impact funds, development finance institutions (DFIs), impact investors, commercial lenders, and blended finance sources.
• Manage investor relations, ensuring transparent financial reporting and alignment with impact and financial goals.
• Work closely with legal, compliance, and fund administrators to structure OpenPower’s fund (e.g., under Singapore’s VCC framework), including term sheets, fee structures, impact reporting obligations, and regulatory registrations.
• Lead outreach and relationship-building with potential Limited Partners (LPs) and anchor investors. Prepare and present investment decks, data rooms, and financial models tailored to the expectations of each capital source

Partnerships & Business Development:

• Develop the ecosystem of energy and RTS developers and enable them to provide new solutions that will unlock the RTS market
• Build and nurture strategic relationships with energy and RTS developers, different archetypes of investors, policymakers, and ecosystem partners to drive market adoption and scale impact.
• Drive expansion into new markets, tailoring financing solutions to local contexts and regulatory environments.

Financial Strategy & Operations:

• Design and implement financial models, investment structures, and risk mitigation frameworks tailored to decentralized energy financing.
• Establish internal financial controls, ensuring regulatory compliance, operational efficiency, and long-term sustainability.
• Oversee cash flow management, financial forecasting, and risk assessment to support scalable growth.
• Establish robust financial and impact reporting systems that meet LP expectations and regulatory requirements.

Team Building & Culture:

• Foster a mission-driven culture that attracts top talent and aligns with the company’s long-term goals.
• Build and lead a high-performing team committed to advancing sustainable energy solutions.

Representation & Advocacy:

• Represent the company at industry events, conferences, and investor meetings to enhance brand recognition and drive market adoption.

Requirements

• 10+ years of leadership experience in energy finance, impact investing, private debt, or a related field.
• Successfully raised and closed at least one fund or investment vehicle, ideally in the $25M–$100M range or higher.
• Direct experience engaging with development finance institutions (DFIs), impact investors, blended finance platforms, and family offices.
• Deep understanding of fund structuring, including term sheets, waterfall models, and fund governance.
• Demonstrated ability to lead end-to-end fundraising processes, from investor sourcing and due diligence to legal negotiations and capital calls.
• Strong existing network of LPs, catalytic capital providers, and financial intermediaries in the climate, energy, or infrastructure space
• Proven track record in fundraising, managing funds business development, and scaling high-growth ventures.
• Strong understanding of climate finance, structured finance, and distributed solar markets.
• Quick to learn about new industries and technologies, and able to adjust and pivot when presented with new information such as regulatory limitations, market feedback, technological innovations, etc.
• Entrepreneurial, curious, and deeply passionate about making a difference towards some of the world’s most important problems and opportunities, especially in the energy sector
• Ability to navigate ambiguity and drive strategic initiatives
• Ability to inspire and motivate employees towards shared vision and goals, demonstrated by exceptional team culture built
• Advanced communication skills and stakeholder engagement with internal (e.g. Board, C-suite) and external stakeholders (e.g. investors, commercial partners, and B2B and B2C customers)
