1882 Energy Ventures is a venture studio accelerating the global energy transition by building and scaling startups that decentralize energy systems—reshaping how homes, businesses, mobility, and networks are powered. By advancing decentralization, we drive decarbonization, enhance energy efficiency, and fuel long-term economic growth and development in the Philippines and beyond.

About the Role

To be able to disrupt the traditional but high-opportunity energy sector, we need a visionary who is passionate about reimagining old ways of working and using innovative technologies to solve pain points on both the demand and supply sides of the market. As the Founder, you will be given the resources to build, launch, and scale this venture from the ground up.

Key Responsibilities

• Venture Building: Able to start ventures from the ground up–concept planning and design, product, business model, team hiring
• General Management: Be responsible for overall operations, growth, and financial performance of the venture
• Stakeholder Management: Liaise with venture board, investors, regulatory bodies, B2B and B2C customers, partners, business ecosystem, etc.

Requirements

• Previous experience as a founder, senior leader, or general manager in leading early-stage marketplace startups that disrupted traditional industries
• Previous experience in the small and medium-sized enterprise (SME) sector is an advantage
• Quick to learn about new industries and technologies, and able to adjust and pivot when presented with new information such as regulatory limitations, market feedback, technological innovations, etc.
• Entrepreneurial, curious, and deeply passionate about making a difference towards some of the world’s most important problems and opportunities, especially in the energy sector
• Ability to navigate ambiguity and drive strategic initiatives
• Ability to inspire and motivate employees towards shared vision and goals, demonstrated by exceptional team culture built
• Advanced communication skills and stakeholder engagement with internal (e.g. Board, C-suite) and external stakeholders (e.g. investors, commercial partners, and B2B and B2C customers)
• Deep knowledge of the Philippine energy ecosystem, regulation, and stakeholders is an advantage
• Network of contacts in venture capital/private equity, regulatory bodies, power sector stakeholders, business communities, consumer groups is an advantage
