The eCommerce Product Subject Matter Expert (SME) is responsible for ensuring the accuracy, integrity, and optimization of product data within our Shopify platform. This role acts as the technical resource on catalog management, serving as a key resource for internal teams, vendors, and cross-functional stakeholders

Key Responsibilities:

Operational 

• Own and manage product uploads, updates, and bulk edits in Shopify using both native tools and third-party apps. 
• Review and validate team work on catalog updates to ensure accuracy and adherence to standards before publishing. 

Process Improvement 

• Work closely with the Product Manager to identify gaps or inconsistencies in catalog management documentation and outline actionable improvements. 
• Recommend and implement process enhancements for more efficient product onboarding, updates, and vendor support. 

Employee Development 

• Coordinate with the Product Manager to train, mentor, and upskill team members on Shopify best practices, catalog standards, and QA workflows. 
• Develop and maintain internal resources, guides, and SOPs to ensure consistent catalog management processes. 

Qualification and requirements:

Experience 

• 3+ years in a Shopify-focused eCommerce role within product, merchandising, or catalog management. 
• Demonstrable expertise as a Subject Matter Expert in Shopify catalog structures, bulk editing, and product data workflows. 
• Experience managing or reviewing team outputs for accuracy and consistency. 

Skills Requirement 

• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a QA-focused mindset. 
• Excellent attention to detail in reviewing and validating large data sets. 
• Advanced proficiency in Excel/Google Sheets (VLOOKUP, pivot tables, formulas). 
• Strong written communication skills with the ability to clearly document processes and train others. 
• Ability to manage time effectively in a fast-paced environment. 
• Collaborative, proactive, and solutions-oriented attitude. 

Bonus Points:

• Experience with Shopify Plus or custom product template integration. 
• Familiarity with JSON, HTML, Liquid, or theme-related troubleshooting. 
• Background in luxury or high-end retail/eCommerce.
