Job Description

Description

Assistant Bookkeeper

Salary Range: $692.00 to $865.00 per month

Join a dynamic and fast-growing real estate company where your detail orientation and financial accuracy will keep operations running smoothly behind the scenes. In this key role, you'll help manage bookkeeping transactions, audit ledgers, and support financial reporting—making a measurable impact on day-to-day property operations.

What You'll Do:

  • Enter and categorize all monthly bank transactions in AppFolio, including manual mortgage entries, ensuring proper alignment for reconciliation.
  • Audit vendor invoices—especially recurring contracts—and follow up with property managers on missing bills or payment requests and flag overdue payables.
  • Review resident ledgers to verify accuracy, ensure proper payment application, and escalate discrepancies when necessary.
  • Assist in reconciling escrow balances and preparing accrual schedules for reporting and tax prep.
  • Run AppFolio reports to identify discrepancies or trends, and communicate effectively with vendors or property staff to resolve them—occasionally making calls when emails aren’t clarifying matters.
  • Prepare for future growth opportunities by learning to assist the HR department with payroll-related matters and other general HR-related tasks.

Who You'll Work With:

You’ll work closely with the accounting and property management teams in a structured, process-oriented environment. Your work will be key in keeping books clean and accurate, allowing the leadership team to focus on growth and strategic planning.

Who We're Looking For:

  • Detail-Oriented: Must be meticulous—even if slower-paced—reviewing financial statements and spotting inconsistencies across ledgers and invoices.
  • Organized: Able to manage and track multiple recurring transactions and follow up on outstanding issues.
  • Basic Financial Knowledge: Familiar with standard financial terms and general ledger categories (e.g., rent, utilities, taxes, financial statements); 6–12 months of experience is required.
  • Tech-Savvy: Must be comfortable learning to use tools like AppFolio and navigating digital platforms efficiently.
  • Effective Communicator: Writes clear, professional emails to vendors and property managers; asks questions when clarification is needed.
  • Team Player: Works collaboratively with area managers and property staff while maintaining accountability for assigned responsibilities.

Why Join Us?

  • Impact: You’ll play a crucial role in keeping the books clean and the financial process smooth—ensuring leadership has accurate data to work with.
  • Culture: Be part of a communicative, collaborative, and supportive team that values ownership and precision.
  • Benefits:
  • Enjoy preset salary growth and weekly salary payments.
  • 100% work-from-home flexibility.

Work Details:

  • Schedule: Mon - Fri 4:00 AM - 12:00 PM EST (training), with possibility of adjustments after training
  • Employment Type: Full-time
