Job Purpose

The Junior Accounting Associate will provide essential support to the finance team by managing day-to-day Accounts Receivable (AR) and/or Accounts Payable (AP) functions for Australian operations. This role is ideal for someone with foundational accounting knowledge, strong attention to detail, and a proactive approach to financial administration.

 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

 

Accounts Receivable (AR)

  • Generate and issue invoices to clients in a timely and accurate manner.
  • Monitor outstanding receivables and follow up on overdue payments.
  • Reconcile customer accounts and resolve discrepancies.
  • Assist with cash application and bank reconciliations.

 

Accounts Payable (AP)

  • Process supplier invoices and ensure timely payments.
  • Match purchase orders, receipts, and invoices for accuracy.
  • Maintain vendor records and respond to payment-related inquiries.
  • Assist with monthly AP reconciliations and reporting.

 

General Accounting Support

  • Assist with month-end closing activities and journal entries.
  • Maintain accurate financial records and documentation.
  • Support internal audits and compliance checks.
  • Collaborate with other departments to ensure smooth financial operations.

 

Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • Diploma or Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • 1–2 years of experience in AR and/or AP functions (internship or entry-level experience acceptable).
  • Familiarity with Australian financial regulations and GST/BAS concepts.
  • Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., Xero, MYOB, SAP, or similar).
  • Strong numerical and analytical skills.
  • Excellent attention to detail and organizational abilities.
  • Good communication skills and a collaborative mindset.

 

Preferred:

  • Experience working in a shared services or multi-entity environment.
  • Exposure to payroll or expense management systems.
  • Understanding of Australian tax and compliance requirements.
