Role Overview
- We are seeking a Project Manager to lead the operations and performance management of the Accounting Team assigned to our biggest client. This role is crucial in ensuring timely and high-quality deliverables, maintaining team productivity, and implementing proactive resource planning and process improvements. The Project Manager will coordinate across support functions, drive performance reporting through operational tools, and work closely with leadership to ensure the team operates at peak efficiency.
Objective of the Role:
- To elevate operational excellence, establish best practices for completing accounting deliverables, and ensure that the team consistently performs at their best for world-class client delivery.
1. Operations Oversight & Client Delivery
- Ensure all deliverables for the DTLA CPA client are completed on time, at high standards, and in accordance with client expectations.
- Collaborate with the operations and support teams (Operations, IT, Admin, BD and HR) to monitor execution and address workflow concerns.
- Lead and ensure the daily operating rhythm is followed—including check-ins, trackers, and standups—to maintain operational discipline.
2. Performance Management & Reporting
- Work closely with the operations team to complete monthly performance scorecards for all accountants.
- Regularly review and audit the project management tools and dashboards to verify task completion, load balancing, and individual productivity.
- Analyze team performance using available data and escalate red flags or low-performing trends with proposed action plans.
3. Resource & Capacity Planning
- Monitor team headcount vs. client workload, ensuring that staffing levels are balanced and proactive adjustments are made as needed.
- Develop contingency plans for leaves, attrition, or unexpected absences to prevent service disruptions.
- Strategically assign new client work and reassign existing roles to accommodate pipeline changes and exits.
4. Staffing Oversight & Coverage
- Ensure daily and weekly staffing is appropriately planned and communicated.
- Collaborate with recruitment and HR to align hiring efforts with forecasted needs.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date rosters for assignments and availability across the team.
5. Issue Resolution & Process Collaboration
- Serve as the point person for operational issues affecting delivery, performance, or system blockers.
- Partner with the IT team to escalate recurring operational pain points that can be resolved via system automation or enhancement.
- Work with operations leadership to review and improve SOPs, workflows, and checklists used across the team.
6. Continuous Improvement & Best Practices
- Champion the creation and documentation of best practices for all recurring tasks and deliverables.
- Facilitate retrospectives or after-action reviews to gather feedback and continuously optimize operations processes.
- Propose process automation or streamlining initiatives to improve accuracy, timeliness, and team productivity.
